Photovoltaic Tests

Solar energy and other renewable energy technologies are developing rapidly and continue to be easily adopted in both residential and commercial applications. As prices drop and other incentives to turn into solar energy increase, the solar appliance market - and the need for photovoltaic testing to verify new product safety and performance - will continue to grow. Of course, such growth is likely to create increasing regulatory demands.

EUROLAB's Solar industry expertise, extensive testing capabilities and accessible facilities work to your advantage. We were one of the first national laboratory networks to offer solar cell testing services, and we continue to improve our ability to provide general services and solutions to our solar industry partners.

Complete Solar Energy / Photovoltaic Technology Services

EUROLAB meets your Solar / PV needs with industry-leading capacity and capability to evaluate and test your products. Our engineers will verify the permanent and permanent performance of your Solar / PV products in accordance with their intended design life under the unique conditions of your environmental applications. Our services cover the standard test requirements of industry specifications such as UL1703, IEC 61215 and MIL-STD-810. UL and IEC certificates include the environmental and electrical safety tests EUROLAB has carried out for years:

  • UV Radiation Exposure
  • Extreme Temperature and Humidity
  • Arc Tests
  • Insulation resistance
  • High Tensile Strength
  • Resistance to hail / stone effect and other simulated environments

MIL-STD-810, Method 505 Test

The MIL-STD-810, Method 505 standard for photovoltaic devices is one of the most important protocols for new solar products. It represents a quality standard that is trusted not only for any device used in defense applications, but also by more consumers.

Investing in appropriate photovoltaic tests will help you stand out in the crowded, ever-growing solar energy market. It will also reduce your responsibility by ensuring that each device meets its promised expectations for performance and longevity.

Compliance with MIL-STD-810, Method 505 includes a two-procedure test:

Heating Effects Test: MIL-STD-810, Method 505 compliance requires testing a PV device for prolonged exposure to heat and solar radiation. Testing is performed to determine the maximum exposure temperature that can be reached before degradation or equipment failure occurs. For such tests, only temperature simulation is considered defective, since it does not take into account the differential heating effects caused by solar radiation.

Actinic Effects Test: This test measures the negative effects of prolonged exposure to sunlight on a device. The use of air-cooled mercury doped metal halide lamps can speed up the testing process and repeat the effects of long-term exposure times without waiting. This allows you to more accurately determine the average lifetime of a PV product and determine your warranty policies accordingly.

UL and IEC certificates include EUROLAB's UV radiation exposure for years, extreme temperature and humidity, arc tests, insulation resistance, resistance to high voltages, hail / stone impact resistance, and various other simulated environmental and electrical safety tests.
