GSFC STD 7000A General Environmental Validation Standard for Flight Programs and Projects

The total validation process also includes the development of models that represent the hardware, tests to verify the adequacy of the models, analysis, alignments, calibrations, functional/performance tests to verify proper operation, and finally end-to-end tests and simulations to demonstrate.

Other tests not included here can be performed as required by the project. The level, procedure, and decision criteria for performing such additional testing should be included in the system validation plan and system validation specification.

Responsibility and authority for decisions regarding the application of the requirements of this standard rests with the project manager. General/environmental requirements are intended for use by systems assurance managers and flight project managers assisted by systems engineering in developing project-specific performance verification requirements, plans, and specifications that are consistent with current NASA program/project planning.
