This SAE Aeronautical Standard (AS) specifies uniform requirements and procedures for fire testing of flexible hose assemblies and rigid tubing (including coiled tubing) for use in aircraft or spacecraft fluid systems. These procedures can also be followed for fire tests on other customer-specified piping components. Also, "arbitrator" refers to standard fire test equipment to be used in conducting fire tests.
Component assemblies will be determined by Type and Class based on fire test duration and use. Flame test apparatus and temperature shall be the same for each Type and Class.
Types:
Hoses are used to connect movable hydraulic circuit elements to each other. Since the hoses have high flexibility, they are suitable to be used in situations where the system pressure changes frequently and the temperature difference is high. Hoses are made of synthetic rubber.
