This specification covers a family of miniature, circular, electrical connectors (plugs and receptacles) that are environmentally resistant, designed to meet the requirements of aerospace vehicles.

MIL DTL 26500 Type Hermetic Container Connectors Standard

The MIL-DTL-26500 type connector is ideal for use in commercial, military and aerospace interconnection systems that require hermetically sealed and high vibration resistance in a medium density cylindrical connector. Thirty-four insert arrangements are available in both threaded and bayonet attachment styles for a wide variety of applications.

The physical specifications for the connectors include a range of plugs and receptacles where both socket contact inserts and mating pin inserts have flexible faces. Available forms are as shown below:

Types of couplings - Threaded (T-type) and bayonet (B-type).
Nine shell sizes - (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24).
Various contact arrangements and sizes, including low-frequency shielded contacts.
Six different - shell polarization positions.
Six classes - Resistant to the environment (class R); hermetic (class H); stainless steel (grade E); fluid resistance - (class F); grounding (class G); firewall (class K).
Contact styles - "P" pin, "S" socket, "C" pin solder cup, "E" pin solder eyelet (C and E styles for hermetic only).
