The test result is affected by a large number of test parameters, the detailed quantitative effect of which is not yet known in every case. Therefore, tests according to this standard do not allow a definitive statement to be made about the safety behavior of a bolted structure under operational stress.
The fasteners to be tested are tightened to a certain preload force in a vibration testing machine and then subjected to dynamic transverse tension. During vibration testing, the change in preload force over time is recorded. The test ends after a predetermined number of load cycles or when the screw breaks or complete loss of preload force.
