This standard does not address the hazards associated with a standard automotive chassis and other vehicles on the apron. This part of EN 12312 does not apply to container/pallet loaders manufactured before the date of publication of this standard by CEN.
Minimum basic criteria are considered to be of primary importance in providing safe, serviceable, economical and practical container/pallet loaders. Deviations from the proposed criteria should only occur after careful consideration, extensive testing, risk assessment and comprehensive service evaluation have shown that alternative methods or conditions are satisfactory. Such deviations are outside the scope of this standard and a manufacturer should be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of protection.
