AIAA S-114 Test of Mobile Mechanical Assemblies for Space and Launch Vehicles

Not all requirements set out here are of equal importance or weight. It is divided into three categories of importance, ranging from requirements imposed on all applications to acceptable design, product and application examples. Relative weighting of requirements is an important consideration when tailoring this standard to specific applications and when conducting commercial research of alternatives.

The purpose of using weighting factors in the standard is to tailor requirements to specific applications and to assist contractors in the design process. Because the effects of weighting factors vary by contract type and other contract provisions, it is important to provide clear contractual language, particularly with regard to design reviews and resolution of subsequent actions.
