SAE J343 Impact Tests

Test Procedures for SAE 100R Series Hydraulic Hoses and Hose Assemblies
The test method in this standard is used to evaluate the performance of hydraulic hoses and hose assemblies used in hydraulic fluid power systems.

SAE J343 Impact Tests

Test Details

SAE J343 specifies uniform tests and performance criteria for testing hydraulic hose and hose assemblies (hose and end fittings) used in hydraulic fluid systems and in-service, in accordance with the hose requirements detailed in SAE J517.

Types of products/materials generally tested in our laboratories

  • hydraulic hose
  • Hose assemblies
  • Fittings

The impact test is the most demanding test for a hose assembly and very closely reproduces practical operating conditions.

EUROLAB's testing and inspection department constantly takes samples from its customers and subjects them to instant tests for quality in production runs.
This test is carried out as follows: the hose assembly under test is given the minimum bend radius specified by the standard and is approx. A pressure equal to 10 bar and 125% or 133% of the dynamic working pressure.
Tested up to 1.000.000 load cycles...
Depending on the type of hose, the sample is expected to withstand at least 150.000, 200.000 or 400.000 load cycles under these conditions.
Chemical and physical tests, environment resistance, aging properties, etc. More detailed details of test methods and quality requirements such as SAE J 343, EN 853 to 857 and ISO 1436 can be found.
