Metal Analysis

In terms of environmental conditions, metal tests and analyzes are widely performed for drinking water, wastewater, solid waste, soil and compost analysis in terms of metal toxicity and regulations. Today, in a metal analysis study, more than one metal is usually analyzed in more than one sample with advanced technologies. However, different metals have different properties in terms of sample preparation, ionization conditions and interactions.

Metal Analysis

Metals are naturally found in air, water and soil. Metals in the air are generally in the form of steam or particles. Mining activities, metal casting and other industrial processes contribute to metal emissions in the air. These metals enter the body of people through inhalation or through food and drink consumed. Some of these metals are heavy metals and their accumulation in the human body causes many diseases including cancer. The main metals that are effective in this way are: lead, arsenic, cadmium, copper, zinc and nickel.

Lead is a widely used metal in a wide range of products such as batteries and solders. The main emission source is the smelting and processing of mineral ores. Until recently, the main source of lead in the air was due to emissions from motor vehicles. However, since leaded gasoline is no longer produced, the amount of lead in the air has decreased significantly.

Metallic arsenic does not occur naturally, but its compounds are common. It usually occurs with metal-bearing ores and is released into the air during processing. Arsenic is widely used in wood preservatives and pesticides.

The main emission source of cadmium, which is mainly used in metal plating and battery making, is the processing of metal ores to obtain lead, zinc and copper.

Copper is widely used in electrical cables and devices with its conductive properties. Mining and metal production and processing and transportation of copper bearing ores are the major sources of copper emissions.

Metal analysis services are also provided by our organization within the scope of mine testing services.
