XRF General Alloy Test

XRF method is a frequently used method in general alloy analysis and metal identification studies. XRF expression is an abbreviation derived from English, X-ray fluorescence technology expression, which means X-ray fluorescent technology.

The determination of the exact chemical composition of the alloys used in production in various enterprises is extremely important for various reasons. It may sometimes be necessary to verify that a critical component is made of the correct alloy.

However, there are many different alloy compositions, each with its own unique properties. Certain alloys of the same base metal composition generally have very different properties. For example, the resistance of stainless steel alloys to corrosion by acid. Some steel alloys are highly resistant to some acids, while others are not. Making the wrong decision and applying the wrong choice can lead to sudden and unpredictable problems.

The method to accurately identify an alloy is called positive material identification (PMI). This concept is a common expression for various methods, technologies and techniques used to determine the composition of an alloy. Positive material identification can determine both the basic composition and the degree of the alloy. There are many different techniques used to determine the composition of the alloy. However, one of the two main methods used in this regard is the XRF general alloy test.

X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, or XRF for short, is a method that uses low-energy X-rays to determine the chemical composition of the alloys. In this method, a portable device is used, and the composition of the alloy is determined in as little as seconds.

In this method, X-rays stimulate the atoms in the sample, then produce secondary X-rays that are reflected in the detector. The energy, or wavelength, of these reflected X-rays precisely determines which elements are present in the sample and the composition of the alloy.

XRF general alloy testing services are also provided by our organization within the scope of mine testing services.
