EN ISO 11810 Test Method for Lasers and Equipment, Surgical Drapes, Patient Protective Drapes

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 11810 standard. It applies to disposable and reusable woven and non-woven materials used as surgical drapes and other patient protective drapes that are claimed to be laser resistant. The purpose of this International Standard is to provide a standard method for testing and classifying surgical drapes and other patient protective drapes according to laser induced hazards.

EN ISO 11810 Test Purpose

It is not the purpose of this International Standard to serve as a general fire safety specification and therefore this International Standard does not cover other sources of ignition.

EN ISO 11810 Test Procedure

It is used to evaluate the laser induced flammability properties of non-laser resistant parts.

All materials reflect portions of the beam and the user must decide whether specular reflection can pose a hazard. Users of products tested by this method are cautioned that the laser resistance of the surgical drape and/or patient shield will be wavelength sensitive and better tested at the wavelength for which the surgical drape or patient shield is appropriate. If tested using other wavelengths, power settings and delivery modes must be clearly specified.

EN ISO 11810 testing services, which are meticulously carried out by our engineers, are provided by Eurolab to businesses within the scope of medical tests.
