The ISO 11199 standard, which has been re-published by the International Standards Organization (ISO), which is a European standard, consists of the following subsections under the main title "Walking aids manipulated by both arms - Requirements and test methods":
The ISO 11199-1 standard describes the requirements and test methods for walking frames used as walking aids, manipulated with both arms, without accessories, unless specified in the specific test procedure. This standard also defines requirements for safety, ergonomics, performance and information provided by the manufacturer, including marking and labeling.
Requirements and testing are based on daily use of walking frames as walking aids for the maximum user base specified by the manufacturer. This standard includes walking frames specified for a user mass of not less than 35 kg.
For the purposes of this standard,
A walking frame can be used when a person needs assistance with walking. The walking frame provides stability while walking and standing and reduces the risk of falling. Walking frames are designed to support the user in a frame to bear the user's full body weight.
The ISO 11199-2 standard describes the requirements and test methods for rollers used as ancillary products for walking with both arms manipulated wheels, without accessories, unless specified in the specific test procedure. This standard also defines requirements regarding safety, ergonomics, performance and information provided by the manufacturer, including marking and labeling. Requirements and testing are based on daily use of tumblers as walking aids for the maximum user base specified by the manufacturer. This standard includes reels specified for a user mass of not less than 35 kg. This standard does not apply to rollers with horizontal forearm supports that are classified as walking tables in ISO 11199-3.
For the purposes of this standard,
A rollator can be used when a person needs assistance with walking. The rollator provides stability while walking and standing and reduces the risk of falling. Rounders are designed to support the user in a frame to bear the weight of the user. This equipment can be equipped with a lounge chair, backrest or shopping bag. The rounder is not designed to be moved around in the seat like a wheelchair.
The ISO 11199-3 standard describes the requirements and methods for testing the static stability, braking abilities, static strength and fatigue of walking tables without accessory equipment, unless specified in the specific test procedure. In addition, requirements regarding safety, ergonomics and performance, marking, labeling and information provided by the manufacturer are defined. This standard covers all walking tables with three or more wheels or with ends resting on the walking surface and having arm supports in the form of a horizontal support table or two horizontal forearm supports. Requirements and tests are based on daily use of walking tables as walking aids for the maximum user base specified by the manufacturer. This standard includes walking tables specified for a user mass of not less than 35 kg.
