IEC 80601-2-74 Medical Electrical Equipment - Test for Basic Safety of Respiratory Humidification Equipment

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of IEC 80601-2-74 standard. This standard applies to the basic safety and basic performance of a humidifier, hereinafter referred to as ME equipment with its accessories.

This standard also applies to accessories intended by their manufacturers to be connected to a humidifier where the characteristics of those accessories may affect the basic safety or basic performance of the humidifier.

Heated breathing tubes (heated-wire breathing tubes) or ME equipment intended to control these heated breathing tubes (heated breathing tube controllers). Heated breathing tubes and their controllers are ME equipment and are subject to the requirements of IEC 60601-1.

This standard includes requirements for humidification therapy for tracheostomy patients as well as different medical uses of humidification such as invasive ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, nasal high flow therapy and obstructive sleep apnea treatment.

The humidifier can be integrated into other equipment. In this case, the requirements of other equipment also apply to the humidifier.

If an article or sub-article is specifically intended to be applicable to ME equipment only or to ME systems only, the title and content of that article or sub-article shall indicate this. If this is not the case, the item or sub-clause applies to both ME equipment and ME systems as relevant.
