ISO 594-2 (Luer) Tapered Fittings for Syringes, Needles and Certain Other Medical Equipment, Part 2: Standard Test for Lock Fittings

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 594-2 standard. This part of ISO 594 specifies requirements for taper lock fittings with a 6% (Luer) taper for use with hypodermic syringes and needles and certain other apparatus for medical use.

The requirements apply to fittings made of rigid and semi-rigid materials and include test methods, but exclude provisions for more flexible or elastomeric materials.

It is impractical to precisely define the properties of rigid or semi-rigid materials, but glass and metal can be considered as typical rigid materials. In contrast, many plastic materials can be considered semi-rigid.

The Luer lock assembly is designed for use at pressures of the order of 300 kPa or less. Its use in other applications may require consideration to determine suitability.
