ISO 594 Standard Test for (Luer) Tapered Tapered Fittings for Syringes, Needles, and Certain Other Medical Equipment

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 594 standard. Luer is a tapered fitting with a 6% taper for use with hypodermic syringes and needles, as well as other medical equipment for transfusion and infusion sets.

Specifying requirements for conical (Luer) fittings for use with hyperdemic syringes and needles and some other apparatus for medical use, such as transfusion and infusion sets.

It covers fittings made of rigid and semi-rigid materials and includes test methods for measurement and performance. It does not contain provisions for more flexible or elastomeric materials. It is given as an additional example of fluid leakage.

An axial torsion test system is required to test Luer joints. This equipment allows the end user to mount fasteners within the loads specified in the new ISO 80369 and old ISO 594 standards. Tests should be performed using appropriate reference fittings, the dimensions and material of which conform to those described in the standard.
