EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 7206-8 standard. This standard specifies the endurance performance of stemmed femoral components of total hip joint replacements and stemmed femoral components used alone in partial hip replacement replacements, determined under laboratory conditions specified by a method that includes the application of torsion.
It does not apply to prostheses made for special clinical situations; such as prostheses where the centerline of the body is three-dimensionally curved and does not lie in any plane where the neck axis is.
Part 4 of this International standard provides a tool for evaluating the designs of fernoral components of partial or full hip joint replacements, but more data on the different stem designs for the smallest stem dimensions are required to determine the minimum loading values using this test method for dimensions.
More data are also needed to correlate results from this test method with specific designs and materials and to reflect evolving clinical experience.
