The EN 13624 standard, a European standard, describes the requirements and test methods for evaluating the fungicidal effectiveness of chemical disinfectants used in medical devices.
This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 13624 Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics - Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of the fungicidal effectiveness of chemical disinfectants used in medical devices - Test method and requirements (step 2, step 1).
The standard in question describes the minimum requirements for fungal or yeast-killing activity of chemical disinfectant products that form a homogeneous and physically stable preparation when diluted with hard water or water in ready-to-use products.
In general, these chemical disinfectants and antiseptics are tested at a concentration of 80 percent or less, as some dilution is made by adding test organisms and compounds.
Organisms that are mandatory to determine fungicidal activity are Candida albicans and Aspergillus brasiliensis. Depending on their use, the following tests are carried out under minimum test conditions:
TS EN 13624 Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics test services are also provided to our businesses within the framework of various laboratory services.
