AS/NZS 1698 test standard, This standard specifies requirements for protective headgear for vehicle users designed to reduce the adverse effects of a blow to the head. The standard is written with specific reference to motor cyclists, but also applies to users of other types of motor vehicles. Marking requirements and operating and maintenance instructions are also included.
The purpose of this Standard is to provide motorcycle riders and race car drivers with helmets that protect against and minimize the severity of head injuries resulting from the hazards associated with motorcycle riding or motor vehicle racing.
The helmet will resist penetration, absorb impact energy, and have tangible properties. Helmet components and any device attached to the helmet must be such that in the event of an accident they cannot cause injury to the user.
