BMW GS 95002 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Standard Requirements

The GS 95002 test standard is a BMW proprietary standard that describes how EMC measurements are made on components in motor vehicles connected to high-voltage systems.

BMW GS 95002 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Standard Requirements

This standard applies to electrical and electronic equipment, assemblies, models and components. It specifies the requirements, test methods, and application of tests to ensure electromagnetic compatibility in motor vehicles. Any deviations from the test regulations contained in this document must be coordinated with the BMW group's EMC department.

On the one hand, electrical and electronic equipment, assemblies, modules and components must meet the test conditions listed in the current edition of GS 95002. On the other hand, the EMC of the components tested inside the intended motor vehicle must be guaranteed, even if they are exposed to the electromagnetic fields tested in the current edition of GS 95002 under all other possible influences.

The current version of the GS 95002 after its release is valid for new parts and for all parts after one year of replacement. if changes are made to existing assemblies or new versions are released, they are considered new parts and must be modified to fit the current edition of GS 95002.

EMC Test Plan

Prior to EMC testing, an emc test plan describing the test and measurement strategy for the particular component must be submitted to the BMW Group's EMC department. It should contain the following information:

A description of the EUT, EUT configuration during testing, failure criteria for the EUT, A block diagram of the actual test setup showing the routing of all cables used and interconnected during each test; The locations of all test antennas and probes, the location of the binding strips, the loads, and any excitation equipment should be included.

EMC Test Report

According to the development process of the BMW Group's EMC department, an EMC test report will be provided to the BMW Group's EMC department, which must comply with current specifications.

The report will include all results, test information and details of the test procedures used, as well as the build level of the EUT. It will also include a detailed description of the actual setup used for each test (supporting photographs where necessary) to ensure the reproducibility of the studies performed together with the EMC test plan. In addition, the test report must contain a statement of conformity with the relevant requirements of this specification or a description of corrective actions aimed at correcting nonconformity.
