ISO 3006 Road Vehicles - Passenger Vehicle Wheels for Road Use - Standard Test for Test Methods

This International standard was developed in response to requests to establish uniform test methods to evaluate certain fatigue strength properties of wheels used in passenger cars. Standardization of test methods allows vehicle or wheel manufacturers to evaluate their products in a uniform way. Using these methods, wheels from different parts of the world can be compared and evaluated for use.

Only fully machined new wheels, equivalent to wheels for the vehicle, shall be used for the tests.

Clamp the edge of the wheel securely to the test fixture. The adapter face of the test machine shall have wheel mounting systems equivalent to those used on the vehicle. The mating surfaces of the test adapter and the wheel must be free from excessive scratching and deformation and excessive accumulation of paint, dirt or foreign matter.

Tighten these wheel nuts or wheel bolts to the torque values ​​specified by the vehicle or wheel manufacturer at the start of the test. In the early stages of testing, the wheel nut or wheel bolt can be retightened once to improve the adaptability of the nut contact surface of the wheel nut or wheel bolt.
