Standard Test Method for SAE J844 Non-Metallic Air Brake System Hose

Non-fortified products are designated type A and fortified products are designated type B. It is not intended to cover piping for any part of the system operating below -40°C, above +93°C, above 1,0 maximum working pressure.

General Requirements

  • The test temperature should use ±3 °C as the test tolerance range,
  • All test times are minimum unless otherwise stated.
  • Dry air will have a minimum dew point of -50°C,
  • Pipes should be cut square at 90 degrees ± 7 degrees,
  • Precondition all test specimens at 0,7 MPa ± 0,1 MPa for 30 seconds without leakage,
  • A new sample will be used for all tests.
