This test method is intended to determine the soiling and cleaning behavior of leather, coated textiles and textiles in automotive interior coating applications. In this method, soiling is carried out using a defined blotting cloth.
It provides a physical pretreatment routine for leathers that may be susceptible to loss of soiling resistance while in service, before other tests such as cleaning are performed.
The skin test specimen is subjected to a scrub type staining treatment under standard conditions and the change in skin color is evaluated.
In special cases, it may be instructive to test the sample after exposure to simulated wear, at the request of the customer. For example, leather pieces may be subjected to repeated stretching in a suitable machine prior to the soiling test. Or the leather test sample may be subjected to a suitable abrasion treatment prior to the soiling test, for example.
