This specification details the requirements for a paintable Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) abrasion resistant anti-chip coating/sealant. The material is applied in the paint shop after electrocoat (e-Coat) and baked. It can be applied robotically or manually and is used to coat rocker panels, the underside of the floor plate and vehicle underseams to provide a high level of chip and abrasion resistance.
In addition, the material can be used as a sealant to seal the outer casing joints against water, dust, air ingress and corrosion. The material must be compatible with the primer and topcoat systems.
The material should be a smooth and homogeneous mixture free of air, lumps, unmixed particles or foreign matter. Approved and approved production displacement pumping and application equipment should be dispensable.
