This standard specifies the requirements and test specifications for snow chains intended for use on vehicles of classes N2, N3, M2, M3, O3, and O4, which, when used, offer a minimum level of slip safety.
In addition, for the snow chain to be effective in any position of the wheel, the power-transmitting parts of the chain must be spread almost evenly on the wheel. Once used, the snow chain is allowed to be free of up to one-eighth of the wheel circumference. Particularly important: Snow chains must not significantly affect the behavior of the vehicle and cause further damage neither to the vehicle, to the tires nor to the road surface.
The tests applied to a snow chain are harsh. It also provides appropriate guidelines for the standard. Snow chains allowed on inspection are not deformed or damaged.
