EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ECE R-50 standard. The ECE R-50 regulation published by the European Economic Commission (ECE) regulates the principles for the approval of the lighting systems of motorcycles and mopeds.
This technical regulation contains uniform provisions for the approval of front position lamps, rear position lamps, stop lamps, turn signal lamps and rear number plate lighting devices for L-class vehicles (motor vehicles with less than four wheels).
The lighting systems in question here are lamps with different commercial titles or brands or with different optical properties such as intensity levels, light distribution angles, light source category and light source module. Changing the color of the light source or the color of any filter does not imply a type change.
The application for approval is made by the company that owns the trade name or trademark or by the authorized representative of this company. At the time of application, the category must be submitted if the equipment is intended for use, an indication that it is desired to emit white or yellow light for the front position lamp, and a direction indicator.
If the lighting systems are mounted with different slopes according to the vehicle or soil according to the manufacturer's preference, then the detailed drawings of these systems and the diagrams showing their positions on the motorcycle and moped should be submitted to the technical service that will carry out the approval procedures.
If filament lamps or LED light sources are used in production, relevant regulation principles are taken into account in approval processes.
