ECE R10 Automotive EMC Test

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ECE R10 standard. The ECE R10 test regulation is the type approval test for European automotive electronics. It includes a variety of tests, including RF immunity and emissions, transient immunity and emissions. It now includes a requirement for burst, surge, harmonics and vibration and provides advice and requirements for electric vehicles.

ECE R10 Automotive EMC Test

Less than 4 wheels (also 2-wheeled, 3-wheeled vehicles), cars, trucks, coaches, etc., as defined in the L, M, N, and O categories of documents and components. Motor vehicles and separate technical units envisaged to be installed on these vehicles are subject to this procedure regarding electromagnetic compatibility.

ECE R10 replaces Directive 2004/104/EC with its 'mark'. This Regulation introduces 'E' type approval applied to the European market and beyond (more than 50 countries are involved in Europe, including Australia, Japan, Russian Federation etc.).

With the increase in sensitive receivers and powerful transmitters around the vehicles, the issue of electromagnetic compatibility in vehicles has gained importance and has even become a necessity. All electrical/electronic devices within the European Union must take this regulation as a basis for electromagnetic compatibility. The scope of the regulation;

The electromagnetic compatibility of L, M, N and O category vehicles falls within the scope of the EMC directive.
It covers the electromagnetic compatibility of parts and separate technical units designed to be fitted to these vehicles.
It covers the requirements for eliminating radiated and transmitted faults for functions related to direct control of the vehicle, ensuring the safety of drivers, pedestrians and other road users, removing confusion arising from vehicle bus functionality and regular vehicle data.
It covers the conditions related to the control of undesired radiant and conducted emissions and the control of defects in the accessories that are attached afterwards, in order to protect the intended use of electrical or electronic equipment.
It covers additional requirements for vehicles and ESAs that allow REESS to be charged with respect to the control of emissions and exemptions from the connection between the vehicle and the powerline.

ECE Regulation R10 covers the requirements for immunity to radiated and transmitted disturbances related to the direct control of the protection of the vehicle, driver, passenger and other road users. The regulation addresses inconveniences related to vehicle bus functionality that may cause confusion for the driver or other road users.

ECE Regulation R10 also addresses the requirements for the control of undesired radiated and conducted emissions to protect the intended use of electrical or electronic equipment from nearby or adjacent vehicles, and the control of malfunctions caused by retrofitted accessories to the vehicle.
