FORD FMC 1278 Electromagnetic Compatibility Component Testing Standards

FMC1278 defines electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements for electrical and/or electronic (E/E) components and subsystems for Ford Motor Company (FMC). These requirements have been developed to ensure compliance with current and expected domestic and foreign regulations as well as customer satisfaction regarding EMC of vehicle E/E systems. FMC1278 defines EMC requirements for low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) electrical/electronic (E/E) components and subsystems during normal vehicle operation.

FORD FMC 1278 Electromagnetic Compatibility Component Testing Standards

The purpose of this engineering specification is to ensure the Electromagnetic Compatibility of the vehicle. This specification
Provides enhanced EMC requirements and test methods for design verification of E/E components and subsystems. Successful completion of this verification directly supports FMC's Production Product. Acceptance Process (PPAP), Verification test must be successfully completed prior to VP MRD.

In addition to meeting the requirements outlined here, E/E components and subsystems
The vehicle will also comply with all relevant vehicle level EMC requirements.

The supplier should contact the FMC/EMC department for details on these requirements. Validation tests for these requirements are performed by FMC. snap-in, subsystem,
and vehicle level EMC requirements are determined by the imposed standard reflecting the specific conditions in their target market. Component or subsystem supplier, any additional requirements or changes to the requirements specified herein must be included in the supplier's statement of work and the component/subsystem's engineering specification.

The requirements and test methods in this engineering specification are based on international standards wherever possible. If international standards are not available, military and in-house standards are used. In some cases, unique requirements and test methods have shown that experience better represents the vehicle electromagnetic system. These requirements do not replace applicable regulatory requirements. Where such requirements exist, separate validation tests may be carried out.

A complete range of automotive testing services, including all requirement, from chemical analysis to mechanical and environmental testing for automotive parts of automotive materials, component parts, component parts, composites and surrogate plates used in passenger cars, multi-purpose passenger cars, trucks and buses according to EUROLAB Laboratory FORD standards offers a range.
