FMVSS 108 Test Standard for Lamps, Reflective Devices and Related Equipment

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard FMVSS 108 specifies requirements for original and replacement lamps, reflective devices, and related equipment. The purpose of the standard is to reduce traffic accidents and deaths and injuries from traffic accidents by providing adequate illumination of the roadway in daylight and darkness or in other conditions with reduced visibility, and by increasing the visibility of motor vehicles on public roads.

FMVSS 108 Test Standard for Lamps, Reflective Devices and Related Equipment

The standard applies to light reflective devices and associated equipment for passenger cars, multi-purpose passenger cars (MPVs), trucks, buses, trailers (excluding mast trailers and trailer conventer dollys) and motorcycles, as well as similar equipment for replacing similar equipment in vehicles to which this standard applies.

The tester will provide appropriate security measures to protect OVSC testing equipment from unauthorized personnel throughout the entire conformity testing program. The tester is financially responsible for any acts of theft or vandalism that occur during the storage of test equipment. Security issues that arise will be reported by phone to the Manager (IPM), Contracts and Procurement Office, Industrial Property within two business days of the incident. A letter containing specific details of the security issue will be sent to IPM (with a copy to COTR) within 48 hours.
