FMVSS 205 Test Standard for Glass Materials

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard FMVSS 205, This standard covers the properties of glass materials used in motor vehicles and motor vehicle equipment. The purpose of this standard is to
to reduce injuries caused by hitting glass surfaces, to provide the necessary level of transparency for the driver's vision in motor vehicle windows, and to minimize the possibility of passengers being thrown out of vehicle windows in collisions.

This standard applies to passenger cars, multi-purpose passenger cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, drag campers, pickup covers designed to transport people in motion, and low-speed vehicles and glassware used in these vehicles. For motor vehicles and window fittings manufactured before September 1, 2006, the manufacturer may, at its option, replace this version with the revised 1 as of October 2003, 205.
