FMVSS 210 Test Standard for Seat Belt Mounting Anchors

FMVSS 210 specifies the requirements for seat belt assembly attachments to ensure their correct position for effective occupant safety and reduce the possibility of failure. The standard applies to passenger cars, multi-purpose passenger cars (MVPs), trucks and buses.

Must be fitted for the forward facing outboard seating position (DSP) in passenger cars and for any DSP where a Type 208 seat belt is required by FMVSS 2 in vehicles other than passenger cars.

Seat belt anchors for Type 1 (lap belt) or Type 2 seat belt assemblies for each DSP shall be fitted provided a bus has a passenger seat.
