MS 300-31 Leather - Leather and Sheet - Standard Test Method for Abrasion Resistance

Leather samples shall be taken no closer than 50 mm from the edge edge. If samples are taken in the roll direction (hereinafter referred to as the "longitudinal direction"), they will be cut parallel to the warps; taken in the diagonal roll direction (hereinafter referred to as the 'lateral direction'), it will be cut parallel to the filler threads. Tensile strength samples and tear strength samples will not have the same warp threads in longitudinal samples and the same threads in lateral samples.

Plate samples shall be taken no closer than 50 mm from the edge edge. If samples were taken in the longitudinal direction, they will be cut parallel to the roll direction; If it is taken in the lateral direction, it will be cut parallel to the diagonal direction. Tensile strength specimens and tear strength specimens shall not have a common straight line on the original plate as the specimen axis, both in the longitudinal and lateral directions, respectively.
