The test consists of a 5-day test profile divided into a 2-day repeat cycle on weekdays followed by a 7-day weekend phase.

The 5-day repeat cycle consists of the following steps:

  • 0,5 hour wet phase at room temperature with intermittent exposure to salt solution (6% NaCl);
  • A transitional phase of 2,5 hours with drying under climate control, this is carried out in two parts; the first is a 25-minute ramp to maintain high humidity at 40% RH while raising the temperature from 95°C to 30°C. The second part requires a 4-hour transition while raising the temperature from 50°C to 95°C while simultaneously reducing the humidity from 70% RH to 2% RH. These setpoints are the target conditions at the end of each phase;
  • A 50 hour phase with constant temperature and humidity (70C/15,5%RH).

Vertical airflow over test specimens, an oscillating spray bar located 1M above the target test area, and an Ascott Atmosphere chamber for testing as a psychrometric humidity reference are required.
