To perform a roof crush test, the vehicle or white body is mounted to the rig base plate, which is supported along the sills and chassis frame. The loading plate, held at the regulation requirement angles, is lowered into the roof structure. It is then loaded at a force determined by the unladen mass of the vehicle.
For post-test analysis of roof structure performance, video recordings are made from inside and outside the vehicle during the roof crush test. Post-test review of vehicle structural performance is done with or on behalf of the customer and is supported by photographs.
