FORD TM 00.00-L-467 Standard Test for Cyclic Corrosion

This methodology will be used to pass the mass loss test while performing the Ford TM00.00-L-467 test profile in an atmosphere specification chamber.

FORD TM 00.00-L-467 Standard Test for Cyclic Corrosion

The test consists of a 5-day test profile divided into a 2-day repeat cycle on weekdays followed by a 7-day weekend phase. The 5-day repeat cycle consists of the following steps.

  • A 0.5 hour wet phase at 25°C with intermittent exposure to saline (6% NaCl);
  • A 2,5-hour transitional phase with drying under climate control;
  • A phase of 15.5 hours at constant temperature and humidity (50C/70%RH).

The 2-day weekend phase is as follows;

  • 50 hours at constant temperature and humidity (70C/48%RH).

An Ascott Atmosfar chamber is required for testing as an oscillating spray bar located 1M above the target test area and psychrometric humidity reference.

The room should be run on at least one of the 24-hour daily cycles to ensure the temperature and humidity profiles are within specification.
