GM 4298P Salt Spray Test

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of the GM 4298P standard. It covers the requirements necessary to achieve the conditions found in a neutral salt spray test cabinet.

Salt spray testing is more suitable for quality control and process control evaluations. Other tests may be more suitable for simulating field performance.

Application methods, film thickness, curing and test surface conditioning should be as specified, consistent with normal manufacturing practices.

Areas with ridges, cut edges and nick marks of coated, coated or duplex materials, or in contact with racks or supports, should be protected with a suitable coating that is stable under test conditions.

Samples will be properly cleaned. The cleaning method will be optional depending on the nature of the surface and contaminants. Cleaning shall not include the use of abrasives other than pure magnesium oxide paste or solvents that are abrasive or that will leave abrasive or protective films. Care should be taken to ensure that samples are not contaminated after cleaning by excessive or careless handling.

For the evaluation of paints and other organic coatings, samples shall be prepared according to the specifications applicable to the material being tested.
