GM 9540P Accelerated Corrosion Test

The test method consists of 1,25% (0,9% sodium chloride, 0,1% calcium chloride, and 0,25% sodium bicarbonate) salt mist treatments combined with high temperature and high humidity and moderately high temperature drying. Requires a 16-hour workday or an automated cycle test chamber.

Engineering drawings and material specifications that refer to this test procedure should specify the test time (A, B, C or D) the number of test cycles specified. (Example, GM9540P, Test Time B.) should also specify pass/fail determination criteria. Test times A and B may be used for quality control and verification procedures as appropriate. Tests with longer test times (C and D) and changes should be used for validation purposes only.
