GMW 14093 Test Standard for Determining Impact Strength of Plastic Components

The purpose of this test method is to determine the impact resistance of plastic components under certain conditions. This test method will be used for plastic components that are likely to be subjected to impact stresses in service.

GMW 14093 Test Standard for Determining Impact Strength of Plastic Components

Impact Strength, according to this test method, impact resistance is defined as the resistance of plastic components to impact stress.

Nothing in the specification supersedes applicable laws and regulations, unless a specific exemption is granted.

The GMW 14093 Test is performed using two different apparatuses;

Apparatus A - Drop Ball Tester

A falling ball tester in which an impact hammer drops from a predetermined height to produce the specified impact energy in free fall onto the test piece.

Apparatus B - Pendulum Impact Tester

A pendulum - an impact tester in which an impact hammer suspended on a pendulum of certain length drops from a predetermined height to produce the specified impact energy on the test piece.
