GMW 14162 Color Fastness Test Standard Against Artificial Weathering

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of GMW 14162 standard. This test method is used to determine the effects of weather conditions using a xenon arc lamp source (artificial sunlight) to simulate the extreme environmental conditions encountered inside a vehicle due to sunlight, heat and humidity.

GMW 14162 Color Fastness Test Standard Against Artificial Weathering

This method will be used to assess color fastness as well as being an artificial aging method to assess deterioration. This method describes four (4) possible exposure cycles.

GMW 14162 Test Methods

Method A, Light and Dark Exposure Cycle (100 °C, 420 nm). The cycle alternates between light and dark periods. This cycle is based on exposure condition Number Three (105) of ISO 06-B3.

Method B, Light Exposure Cycle Only (100 °C, 300 nm to 400 nm). This cycle is based on exposure condition Number Three (105) of ISO 06-B3.

Method C, Light Exposure Cycle Only (115 °C, 300 nm to 400 nm). This cycle is based on ISO 105-B06 exposure condition Number One (1).

Method D, Light and Dark Exposure (89 °C, 340 nm). The cycle alternates between light and dark periods. This cycle is based on exposure condition Five (5) ISO 105-B06.

This test procedure was developed by the Global Textile Team to establish a common method for assessing color fastness to artificial weathering.
