GMW 14171 Test Standard for Heavy Layer Sound Barriers and Decoupler Assemblies

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of GMW 14171 standard. This specification defines all heavy layer types of sound barrier materials and their use with sound absorbing or dispersing materials for noise isolation arrangements.

Products conforming to this specification will be defined in two parts. The first part will define heavy sheet sound barriers according to their classes according to their density ranges, these heavy sheet materials will be defined separately.

When used in conjunction with the sound absorbing materials defined in GMW 14194 "Fibrous Sound Absorption Materials" and GMW 14196 "Polyurethane Foams for General Applications", they will be defined as decoupler assemblies or display panels.

All heavy-duty audio materials conforming to this specification will be listed by grade.

• Class 1 (2,5 ± 0,250 kg/m²).
• Class 2 (3,5 ± 0,350 kg/m²).
• Class 3 (4,5 ± 0,450 kg/m²).
• Class 4 (5,5 ± 0,550 kg/m²).
• Class 5 (TBD).

All separator assemblies should be identified by the appropriate heavy layer class and the specific type of sound absorbing material as defined in GMW 14194 or GMW 14196.
