EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of GMW 14867 standard. The coating covered by this standard can be applied to plastic substrates, flexible substrates, tight substrates or basic leather foam systems.
The extended durability testing described in this standard is required for permission to install all new interior paints. All paint systems used in the interior of a General Motors vehicle must meet the requirements listed in this specification.
This standard is commonly used to test the red and blue color gamut for general color technology licensing. When a new paint system is approved for a particular grade of plastic, this section must complete a special color permit and a test paint permit on plastic systems (the GMW 14797 standard for interior trim components) permit completion. The approved paint system is then entered into the General Motors database or registered with the written permission of the responsible materials engineering department.
Where parts are removed from previously painted material, the paint film must withstand all necessary manufacturing processes, including pressure and temperature build-up, in addition to the requirements in this case.
While performing the tests, a casserole dish is used according to the ISO 20433 standard. Ten drops of each liquid detergent are dripped onto the painted surface. The liquid should remain on the surface for one minute before testing. With the said casserole cloth, ten back and forth ten scratches, approximately 50 mm long, are firmly adhered to the painted surface. Color shift in the cassette and any color change in the test plate is evaluated against the gray scale.
