GMW 14885 Painted Aluminum Road Wheels - Paint Performance Requirements

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of GMW 14885 standard. This specification defines the performance requirements for the pretreatment, paint materials, and machining required to paint/coat aluminum road wheels.

GMW 14885 Painted Aluminum Road Wheels - Paint Performance Requirements

In some cases, this specification may be applied to aluminum wheel trim. Coating/Paint durability requirements are also included.

Type A - Wheels with clear paint(s) on the shiny metal portions of the disc outer and/or rim flange, eg high-gloss polished wheels and machined surface wheels.

Type B - Fully colored painted wheels without any light paint(s) on glossy metal on the disc outer and/or rim flange.

This specification applies to all surfaces specified in the engineering part drawing to meet these requirements.

Painted parts must meet these requirements before they go on the field, as well as meet GMs and their customers' expectations for appearance and cosmetic durability.

All deviations from this specification must be accepted by GM and documented in the parts drawing.
