Foams can be open or closed cell of varying polymer technologies. Adhesives for these pressure sensitive applications will either carry a release liner or be provided on release liner sheets (for example, adhesive-backed foam strips). The structure can be applied to the component and shipped as an Assembly Part (POA) or delivered as a separate part for installation at a GM Assembly Center.

Typical applications include spacers, door seals, foam seals (e.g. fasteners), under-hood muckets, foam dams (windscreens/Air Intake Panels (AIP)) and general air, dust and water seals such as gaskets and seals.

Type I - An adhesive-backed application that seals and/or mechanically retains over the life of the vehicle. This type of adhesive application is functional before and during installation, or until it is stuck and/or held down mechanically from the installation site.

Type II - Adhesive-backed foam composite that is retained by the adhesive for the life of the vehicle.
