GMW 3136 Automotive Safety Glass Standard

Automotive windows are produced and subjected to various standards with the aim of reducing the potential of causing bodily cuts in fragmentation or breakage to a great extent and increasing the life safety of the people in the vehicle. Four different types of glass are produced;

Single Layer Glass (Stalinite)

They are ordinary glasses that have undergone a special tempering process. The peculiarity of this process is that a constant compression is created on the glass surface.

Double Layer Glass (Duplex)

The manufacturer uses thin clear plastic in combination with glass. The advantage of this type of glass is that when shattered, the pieces fly less, which further increases safety. While this type of glass was used extensively before, its use has decreased due to the decrease in vision due to the deterioration of the glass during window cleaning.

Three Layer Glass (Triple)

This type of glass is an improved version of the duplex type. In the manufacture of three-layer glasses, two thin balls are used, between which a transparent film with an adhesive base is used. Depending on the type of glass, the interlayer may be tinted or coated with a filtering agent that captures ultraviolet light. The advantage of this type is its difficulty. During a strong blow, most of the small particles remain on the adhesive film.

Laminated Glass

This type of glass is the latest model of safe car glass. In such models there are several layers of glass, between which a polyvinyl butyral film is glued. It is rarely used because of its high cost.

The use of safety glasses in automotive is very important and mandatory. The reason for its use is that the glass is broken into small pieces in the event of an accident,
minimizing harm to people. At the same time, because it breaks into small pieces, a possible accident is that it does not damage the tires of passing vehicles.
