A T-type spare tire refers to a type of spare tire manufactured by the consumer to be used as a temporary replacement for a conventional tire that has failed. For T-type spare tires, FMVSS 109 specifies tire sizes and laboratory test requirements for bead seating resistance, strength, durability and high speed performance. The standard also defines tire load ratings and specifies labeling requirements for tires.
