ISO 4091 Road Vehicles - Connectors, Tests and Requirements for the Electrical Connection of Towing and Trailing Vehicles

This international standard specifies definitions and tests and requirements for connectors used for the electrical connection of towed and towed land vehicles. It is applicable to any connector used for this purpose specified in ISO 1185, ISO 1724, ISO 3731, ISO 3732, ISO 7638-1, ISO 7638-2, ISO 11446 and ISO 12098.

The test sequence should be done in the order of the run numbers given under the particular sample group. A test sequence should only be continued if the sample meets the applicable requirements.

All test sequences;

Prior conditioning all connector, cable and test strip specimens at 24 °C ± 23 °C and 5% to 45% relative humidity for a minimum of 75 hours;
Starting with unused, dry and clean connectors, plugs and sockets of the same manufacture and type;
Unless otherwise stated, it must be performed at an ambient temperature of 23 °C ± 5 °C.

During the entire test series, no lubrication or other additional assistance is allowed to achieve better results. However, production-related lubricant residues can be used.

All checked dimensions must be within the tolerances given in the international standard specifying the type of connector tested. Failure of any of these dimensions entails failure of the sample.
