ISO 6292-1 Motorized Industrial Trucks and Tractors - Test Standard for Brake Performance and Component Strength

This standard specifies performance, test methods, controls, control forces, and component strength for brake systems fitted to ISO 5053-1.

ISO 6292-1 Motorized Industrial Trucks and Tractors - Test Standard for Brake Performance and Component Strength

  • Industrial trucks with engines of any capacity;
  • Towing and pushing tractors up to 66 750 N drawbar traction (hereinafter referred to as industrial tractors);
  • load carriers;
  • Industrial trucks carrying freight containers.

Loss of electrical power and any other loss of power support is not covered by this document. Brake systems used in emergency situations (eg activating the emergency switch or turning off the control system) are not covered by this document.

This document contains requirements for newly manufactured trucks only.

Industrial trucks, commonly referred to as trucks, can meet its documented braking system requirements by complying with either stopping distance requirements or drawbar drag requirements. According to the braking requirements of rubber-tyred earthmoving machinery (ISO 3450), the stopping distance is determined as a measured value. Brake performance is limited considering the load.
