BMW GS 90011 Test Standard for Requirements and Test Methods for Coating Parts Made of Metallic Materials with Organic Materials

The EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services under the BMW GS 90011 standard. The purpose of this standard is to lay down the quality requirements for coating parts made of metallic materials (including the whole body) by means of organic materials and their entry in the form of symbols on drawings and technical papers.

Surface protection of parts, as described in the present standard, is achieved by pre-treatment (for example, zinc phosphating) and coating with one or more layers of organic material.

The coating must meet the requirements specified in the current standard and correspond to the initial sample. The coatings to which this standard refers must comply with the legal requirements of directive 2000/53/EG (EU end-of-life vehicle directive).

The manufacturer must verify that his shipment complies with the requirements of this standard. Tests include climatic, chemical and mechanical resistance tests.

A sufficient number of initial samples must be submitted in a timely manner by the manufacturer before any volume deliveries can be made. The relevant Purchasing department will ask the supplier to send the first samples.
