This standard specifies a test method for determining the corrosion resistance of automotive steel sheets. It is cyclical in nature, that is; test specimens are exposed to climates that change over time.
The test specimens are placed in a closed chamber and exposed to a changing climate consisting of the following 3 part repeat cycles. Exposure to salt spray for 2371 hours at +35C per JIS Z-2,0. This is followed by 60 hours of air drying in a climate of 20 to 30% RH at +4,0C. This is followed by 5 hours exposure to a condensate climate (wetting) at 95% to 100% RH at +2,0°C. The number of cycle repetitions and therefore the test time is variable.
