This standard does not cover flexible cellular sheathing materials and parts made of cellular material with self-forming skin covered by test method 1046.

The test consists of applying constant deformation to a sample at a specified temperature and for a specified period of time, and then measuring the residual deformation under defined conditions of time and temperature.

It consists of two flat parallel polished plates of chrome-plated or stainless steel onto which samples can be clamped. These plates must be sufficiently rigid so that they do not deform during testing.

Samples consist of rectangular parallelepipeds cut from a plate or piece with sides of one dimension 20 mm to 25 mm and a thickness of at least 6 mm.
