The tensile test is a basic materials science test in which a sample is subjected to uniaxial tensile forces until it breaks. The results from the test are used to select materials for any application, quality control, and predict how the material will behave under other forces. Information obtained directly through this test; is the maximum tensile stress, maximum elongation and reduction in area.
The tensile strength Rm (also tear strength) is an important parameter for evaluating the strength behavior. Tensile strength defines the maximum mechanical tensile stress at which a sample can be loaded.
For automotive carpets, the percentage of elongation (%) of the sample can be determined by applying a certain load in the strength device with constant elongation ratio, apart from the elasticity measuring device.
After the initial length of the sample is determined under 0,5 N (Newton) pre-tension, the percent elongation is measured by applying a 10 daN load, and the percent elongation is measured by removing it from the device.
NES M0076 Test Practice
The sample to be tested is placed in the machine and tensile force is applied until it breaks. During the application period of the force, the amount of elongation in the standard cross-section is recorded reciprocally with the applied force. The data on the elongation amount is used to determine the engineering deformation using the equation.
